Diabetic Shoes

Whether you've been newly diagnosed with diabetes, or you've been struggling with the disease for some time, taking care of your feet should be high on your to do list. Having diabetes means having artery disease and nerve disease. Simply put, the artery disease can lead to poor circulation in your feet, and the nerve disease can lead to loss of feeling, or neuropathy. Both can cause a ton of medical problems for the foot. If not properly treated, the worst case scenario is foot amputation.

Don't worry--there's good news! Most amputations are totally preventable. Understanding how to take good care of your feet is the key. Your doctor can tell you about all the things you can do to keep your feet in tip-top shape. You can also check out our "Diabetic Foot Care" section for more helpful information and nifty illustrations too! And don't forget, you've also got to choose the right shoes.

Choosing a Diabetic Shoe
In the beginning, you may not need a therapeutic shoe, lucky you! Athletic shoes or other comfortable shoes may work just fine. But, there will probably come a time when you're gonna need shoes that are specially designed for your feet. Diabetic shoes give your feet support, comfort and protection, three things that are really important to diabetic feet in particular. But, you can't just buy any diabetic shoes. Like with any shoes, you have to make sure they fit your unique little piggies just right.

At Big Feet Store, you will find the largest selection of diabetic shoes on the Internet, maybe even in the universe. That means you'll definitely find the perfect shoe for your foot. Worried about still looking good in therapeutic shoes? Who could blame you? Well, we carry a variety of diabetic shoes with style and fashion too. Who knew? Check them out to see for yourself! But remember, you should always consult your physician before making any decisions related to your disease.
