Diabetic Socks

One of the easiest and most important things you can do to protect your diabetic feet is wear diabetic socks every day. "What in the world are diabetic socks?" you ask. Well, technically speaking, diabetic socks are any socks that have their seams on the outside instead of the inside. This simple change can mean a world of difference to a diabetic foot because the seam doesn't rub on the skin and cause irritation. But there's more to these kinds of socks than just inside-out seams.

To really hook your feet up, you have to get a sock that has gradient compression. (That's a fancy phrase for pressure that lessens gradually.) In terms of diabetic socks, the pressure is greatest at the ankle and lessens up the leg. Regular socks cut off the circulation to your feet--that's why you have those lovely marks on your legs when you take off your socks at the end of the day. That's a big no-no when it comes to diabetic feet because poor circulation is already a big problem with diabetes. You want to keep the blood flowing, and diabetic socks are the way to do it.

Choosing Diabetic Socks
There are a lot of socks out there that claim to be for "support." The emphasis here is on the "claim." Not all of those socks are going to give you the compression or protection you really need. At Big Feet Store, we have diabetic socks for men and women that will provide just the right amount of support and protection. Just check out our selection online and see for yourself.

Even better, you don't have to sacrifice style to keep your feet healthy. We've got a huge selection of diabetic socks and hosiery that will match any outfit. We've got dress socks, casual socks, knee-highs and pantyhose. You name it; you can find it in our inventory. Keep your feet healthy and looking good. And don't forget to check with your doctor for all matters having to do with your diabetes.
